Introduction

Hi! I’m Natalie, and I love wedding invitations. I’m more than a little obsessed with all types of stationery, but wedding invites hold a special place in my heart.

After spending several years as a wedding invitation specialist in a boutique stationery store, I decided to make my own wedding invitations for my May 2010 wedding. Those were such a big hit that I decided to start my own Etsy shop specializing in unique wedding invitations.

I loved designing invitations since it combined my love of grammar and etiquette (what can I say? I have two degrees in Literature!) with my skills in graphic design and customer service.

My favorite part of working with wedding invites was exploring all of the paper and color combos that are out there and pushing the envelope on what was accepted in wedding invitations (I nearly gave my more traditional friends and family a heart attack when they found out that I was using navy blue envelopes and pocket folds with a light metallic sheen for my own wedding invites. But when they saw the final product, they were won over!).

I worked with brides from all over the world for over three years before I returned to my other job–teaching at the college level full-time. Even though I don’t have an open Etsy shop anymore, I still do invite consulting and designing for friends and family. Because of my love of stationery, I have a very unique set of skills: I can ballpark the weight of a paper just by feeling it, and I know dozens and dozens of fonts by sight. I’m nerdy enough to even have favorite fonts (Windsong and Rosemary Copperplate are the top two).

Over the years, I’ve also worked with brides to make unique programs, favors, and reception elements. I’ve even been known to act as a wedding coordinator when the mood strikes. In short, I think that weddings are a blast no matter whether I’m the bride, the coordinator, the stationer or the guest.
